Cycle skills for adults... because it's never too late to learn. SLACC are offering free training sessions for adults with fully qualified Bikeability trainers. Bikeability is 'cycling proficiency for the 21st century'. Get active and stay healthy!

Sign up for up to 4 sessions with friendly professional Cyclewise trainers at Kendal Leisure Centre. Afternoon and evening sessions available to suit your ability.

South Lakes Cycle Challenge - 13th June to 22nd July 2011

Click here to visit the website.The Cycle Challenge is a free, fun competition that encourages people to discover, or re-discover, that cycling is enjoyable, healthy and cheap; the barriers to cycling are not as significant as they seem, and it’s a great way of getting around. There are lots off great prizes up for grabs!

Bike Maintenance Workshops - £5

Book onto cycle maintenance workshops with SLACC run by Aurora from Lancaster:

  • Women's Basic Cycle Maintenance Sat 2nd July at the Pavilion in Staveley 11-2.
  • Mixed Basic Cycle Maintenance Sat 20th July at the Pavilion in Staveley 11-2.
Sessions cover which tools to use and carry on your bike, fixing punctures (taking the rear wheel off) and adjusting brakes. There will be a break for lunch. (We will run intermediate level workshops in August. Dates tbc. Email Ruth to register your interest.) Cyce Rides for Spring/Summer 2011

Easy Tuesday's

Click here for a list of rides. Easy Tuesdays are KDCS organised leisure rides on Tuesday evenings throughout the summer and will begin again when the clocks go forward in the spring. They start from Kendal Leisure Centre at 7pm (except for the third Tuesday of the month when they start from either Milnthorpe or Bowness/Windermere) from May onwards. The rides involve a gentle pace and are generally between 10 and 20 miles.

South Lakes Rough Stuff Fellowship

Click here for a list of rides. RSF rides are open to cyclists of all abilities, all ages and on all types of cycle (perhaps with the exception of lightweight racers, we do go off road). They are easy paced, non-competitive social rides usually calling at one cafe in the morning but participants are ask to bring a pack lunch on all South Lakes Group rides. If you are a non-member you are welcome to join us for two or three rides, check us out, and then hopefully become a member (It is only £12.00 per year!). Just turn up on the day or for further information call Simeon on 01524-811843 after 6.00pm.

Kendal Torchlight Cycle Parade

SLACC-TT will again be organising a cycle parade at this year's kendal Torchlight parade. Around 50 people joined us last year to celebrate cycling in style. This year's event will take place on Friday 9th Sept, 7pm at Kendal Leisure Centre. Contact us at the link above for more information or just turn up on the night.
